Let me start with myself.
I have walked a stretch of road where I thought I had to carry it all by myself.
Later I found out that someone—every morning, every night—was on her knees carrying my name to God, one prayer at a time.
This interview is one of those who have kept watch over me for years in prayer. I bring you her words just as she said them.
In her own words: "Because our prayers work."
She tells of her mother, a prayer warrior.
In her eighties, in a nursing home, her mother spent an hour every night praying for her family,
清晨又花一個小時,為在位掌權的、為世界上每一個國家禱告,求福音的門為他們敞開,and an hour every morning for those in authority, and for every country in the world, that it would be open to the gospel,
and then another hour for her family. And those prayers, she says, are still being answered today.
What I hear is a cup of prayer—poured from a mother to a daughter, from that daughter to me, and now into your hands.
She and Bruce prayed for me—he at night, she in the morning—taking everything they knew I was doing and talking it over with the Lord.
She says to pray specific, because God answers specifically.
She told a story from the mission field, and I want to keep her own words.
In the late afternoon the local workers warned them: "There are bad people from our village coming out after you tonight, and we don't know what's going to happen."
So the family prayed and waited, and waited and waited, and nothing happened.
The next morning those workers came back and said, "Nothing happened."
No—they did come out, but there were people, guards, like an army, all around your compound. They were frightened, and they went back to the village."
Years later the family went back to their home church and shared the story, and discovered that night had been a significant one there too—
the number of people kneeling in prayer at the church that night was exactly the number of soldiers standing around the compound.
I have read that story many times over.
That ring of guards standing watch was that circle of people kneeling.
The praying body was the very road by which the Father's protection reached the field.
18:20)Scripture says, "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." (Matthew 18:20)
The moment two or three gather in His name, He is in the middle of them—this is the heart of me2us2WE: never one person alone.
She said one more thing I keep close: "Everything you need, she needs on a human level."
Without waiting for me to ask, she prays over my tiredness, my headaches, the relationships that wear on me.
To be seen and remembered like this—I am learning to receive it.
She reminds us: when you pray, don't forget to give thanks.
她說,禱告的時候要帶著感謝,因為你有把握神必垂聽、必回應;She says to pray with thanksgiving, because you have confidence that God hears and will answer;
then watch how He answers, point by point, the way you prayed—and it will become your joy.
At the last she said, "God will not forget your labor of love."
From me to us to WE: prayer braids us into one road home together.
If you are holding my prayer requests, you are on that road, standing right there in that circle.
Thank you for kneeling.
